Kalasalingam College of Engineering was renamed Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) by Kalasalingam Anandam Charities in 1984. The Western Ghats surround the university, surrounded by a 163-acre campus spread out in a lovely natural setting. In 2006, KARE was recognized as a university. KARE is the first institution to provide a customized B. tech course in engineering for students with disabilities.
