IIT Tirupati Overview
The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) is an autonomous engineering and technology education institute located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. It started functioning on August 5, 2015, in a temporary campus housed at Krishna Theja Educational Institutions in Chadalawada Nagar. Now IIT Tirupati, the fastest growing 3rd generation IIT, has a transit campus at Yerpedu and has shifted most of its operations from the temporary to the transit campus, which is a part of the 500+ acre permanent campus at the same site in Yerpedu. The foundation stone for IIT Tirupati was laid by Union Minister Smriti Irani, and then-union minister and former vice president of India M. Venkaiah Naidu and the then chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Till 2016, a director was appointed by MHRD for IIT Tirupati. The Director of IIT Madras, Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, was the Mentor Director. In 2017, Dr. K. N. Satyanarayana was appointed as director of IIT Tirupati.
The NIRF rank secured by IIT Tirupati is 56 over the recent past statistics, and the NIRF score sums up to 48.16 as the overall fee structure for the entire course program corresponds to INR 854175.
The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati was established in 2015 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute started functioning with the help of IIT Madras. It has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The campus of the college is spread over an area of 548.3 acres of land. The vision of the Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati is to be a globally recognised centre for education with the mission of creating professionals in the field of education to serve society and the nation.
The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D programs. The courses offered are B.Tech, M.Sc., M.Tech, M.S, and Ph.D. IIT Tirupati accepts JEE Main scores for B.Tech, JAM scores for M.Sc., and GATE scores for M.Tech, M.S, and Ph.D. Candidates can also appear for UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM for the Ph.D programme. The institute has a total of 83 well-qualified faculty members, with the total number of enrolled students being 819. Thus, the student-teacher ratio at IIT Tirupati is 10:1. The institute has many clubs, committees, and societies. IIT Tirupati has many overseas collaborations too.
