GGSIPU Delhi Overview
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), the first public university in Delhi, was established in 1998 in an ample area of 60.46 acres of land by the Government of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act 1998 to facilitate and promote studies, research, and extensive work in emerging areas of higher education with a focus on professional education and to achieve the excellence in these areas. Previously, it had been known as Indraprastha University until it was renamed GGSIPU in 2001 to honor the 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. It is a teaching and affiliating university with a view to encourage students to learn, empower them to serve the people in general, make them adapt to the changing environment for the betterment of the Indian economy, and create them to be cultural leaders to ensure peace, prosperity, and harmony for the whole humanity.
