NIT Raipur Overview
Over the past few decades, the National Institute of Technology Raipur (Formerly Government Engineering College Raipur), located in the capital of a newly formed state of Chhattisgarh, has proven to be “Avant-grade” in the field of science and technology in this region. With fond memories of our president, Hon’ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s, foundation ceremony on September 14, 1956, the institute began with two departments, Metallurgical and Mining Engineering. On March 14, 1963, our Prime Minister, Hon’ble Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the Institute building. The institute was renamed the National Institute of Technology on December 1, 2005.
